Additionally, the short shelf life of ricotta means it must be consumed quickly, increasing its overall cost. Another factor is the demand for high-quality, traditional ricotta made using artisan methods, which can drive up the price. Lastly, in some countries, import fees and taxes contribute to the high cost of this delicious cheese.
